My adventure into photography started at a young age. I was fascinated by my father’s camera. It was nothing fancy, but I would use it every chance he gave me. Back then it was film, so my opportunities were limited. I dabbled in photography as a hobby off and on for many years but never did much with it. In July of 2018 that all changed. I was working as a firefighter, which I had done for twenty-seven years and I loved my job. As fate would have it, I was injured on the job and had to retire.
This is where my photographic journey took a drastic turn. I needed something to fill the void that leaving the fire service left. With the support of my wonderful wife and family, I launched Crooked-Eye Photography.
I have a profound love for the outdoors and “critters”. Family and friends have called me the Critter Whisperer because animals of all types just seem to gravitate to me. Being outdoors and photographing the things I love, is truly a blessing.
Having invested in nice equipment also gave me another opportunity. This was an opportunity I never saw myself getting into. My stepson played sports and I began photographing him. I figured since I had the chance to be near the action, I would also take pictures of the other players and post them for their family and friends to enjoy. Sports have never been my thing, but I found I enjoyed capturing our local high schools sporting events. I have been blessed with the equipment and knowledge to freeze these moments in time for both the students and parents. I grew up in this little town, graduated from this school, and have raised my family here. Being able to give back to this community has been wonderful.
I have had several requests to do portraits for people, but to be honest, this is not the type of photographer I am. Can I do it? Yes, I certainly can, but I would rather be out taking photos of the world. Perhaps one day this will change. For now, if you have a need or desire to have photographs of a pet or pets, livestock, your property or buildings, old machinery, or your most recent litter of pups you are selling, let me help you out.
Prints of the photos on my site are available for sale. Contact me, let me know what you want, and I will be glad to give you pricing.
